If you want to spend a holiday away from buildings, horn sounds and crazy crowds, but if you are afraid to struggle with nature, the concept of glamping may help you. Not many years ago, “luxury holiday” came to mind, giant sea-facing facilities, sumptuous buffets and all-inclusive packages. After a while, five-star resort hotels were replaced by intimate but elegant boutique hotels that cater to refined tastes. However, travellers living in metropolises surrounded by buildings did not give up on searching. This is where the tired and anxious city people longing for nature came up with the concept of glamping, which will be the locomotive of the next generation tourism.
Both being in Nature and Feeling Comfortable!
Beste Erünal, who works as a travel designer at Jules Verne Tourism, explains the reasons why glamping is attractive to the city people as follows:
“The concept of an all-inclusive hotel holiday has been overstated, but glamping is a sweet thrill, which still keeps freshness even for us travel enthusiasts. Glamping combines luxury and camping for travellers who cannot give up on their comfort zone while wishing to get away from the city and the crowd. It is also the first attempt in travel trends for those who are accustomed to the practicality of modern life and want to embrace nature at the same time. The idea of having a drink while relaxing in your luxurious tent in the middle of 100-year-old trees is really seductive”.
Glamping Holiday, but Where?
Although Turkey is a new concept for glamping tourism, the Nordic countries such as Denmark, Swiss, Norway and the United States and Canada are some of the countries where glamping gets intense interest. The best examples of this exciting concept, which is more environmentally friendly than hotel vacations in terms of lower carbon emissions and sustainability, are as follow:
Loveland Farm / Devon, England
Loveland Farm, near the lush green Devon town of southwest England, was founded in 2007 by fashion designer Jeff Griffin, who travelled to Canada and was impressed by the tents he saw there. Despite being in the midst of a virgin nature, this modern facility benefits from all the aspects of technology; he is also famous for bringing simplicity, naturality and elegance together.
Camping Village Weekend / San Felice del Benaco, Italy
Located at the heart of the magnificent nature of Northern Italy, this beautiful glamping facility with its tents that resemble a fully equipped caravan is pleasing people caring their comfort. The Camping Village Weekend is located in the immediate vicinity of Lake Garda, Italy's magnificent natural heritage.
Outpost Co. / Toronto, Canada
Located near the city of Toronto in the province of British Columbia, Canada, this magnificent glamping resort is situated on a tiny island in the middle of a lake hidden among lush forests. This wonderful facility, with no Wi-Fi and cell phone signal, promises so many nature activities that guests coming for relaxation and seclusion here even forget the presence of their cell phones during their stay.
As a quick reminder, Outpost Co., which is a completely isolated facility from the outside world, can only be reached by seaplane.
