Increasing operating costs and market conditions in Turkey day by day, pushes investors to seek new lands to explore. One of these lands is Montenegro!
Karadağ, or Montenegro as its worldwide known name, comes to mind first of its unique bays where green meets blue, lakes that reflect the untouched nature of the Balkans in the best way and charming cities in different ways. However, although it is generally known for its nature and reasonable holiday opportunities, there are other aspects of Montenegro that are expected to shine further in the coming years.
Montenegro, which is the second youngest country in Europe after Kosovo, has become popular among Turkish entrepreneurs especially with its virgin economy and close contacts with the European Union.
Farewell to the turbulent past!
On the deep blue shores of the Adriatic Sea; Montenegro is a lush country between Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Although it may seem like an oasis of tranquillity nowadays, this charming country has a rather unsettled past. Montenegro, which was on the borders of Yugoslavia during the Soviet Union, which dominated the region until 1991, joins Serbia's administrative borders within the post-Soviet period.
Throughout its history, this tiny country, which Italy has not withdrawn for a moment, joins the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia shortly after World War II came under Nazi rule. After the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the rebirth of Montenegro, which was deeply affected by the years of civil war in the Balkans, is thanks to the referendum held on 3 June 2006. Montenegro, which gained its independence with this referendum based on the right of the people to determine their own future, uses the official language called “Montenegrin”. However, in this cosmopolitan region where Serbs, Bosniaks, Albanians and even Italians live, languages such as Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian are also very common. According to 2018 data, the population of Montenegro is 622,359 and the young population is known to be the majority.
What makes this country so attractive?
One of the most attractive aspects of Montenegro is, of course, that it is a country full of natural assets in the Mediterranean climate zone. Thanks to this feature, Montenegro, which has fertile lands, magnificent coasts and freshwater resources, is a perfect place for both agriculture and livestock and tourism sectors. Especially with its unique shores and strategic location, which is not limited to the qualities that shine the charm of Montenegro, it is an important place for cruise tourism.
In this country where labour costs are very accessible because it has a young population, it is very easy to establish a company. With an installation cost of one thousand to 500 thousand euros and you can establish your own company through consultant companies, this country stands out as being the easiest country to get residence permit in Europe. In other words, in order to get a residence permit in the capital Montenegro, you need to own a house with an average cost of 60 - 70 thousand euros or spend 20 thousand euros and start a small / medium sized business. After 10 years of residence permit, you are entitled to Montenegro citizenship. However, there are ways in which investors from all over the world pursue not to waste time with bureaucratic procedures and visa procedures to obtain citizenship. These steps are determined by the Montenegrin Government; donating 100,000 euros to government funds; investing a minimum of 250,000 euros in state-designated areas in the north of the country. Montenegro, which was a NATO member last year and is a possible full member of the European Union in the next five years, is expected to get more attention by 2025.
Tourism, construction and food sectors by far
Let us come to the most virgin and most needed sectors in Montenegro. Of course, the construction sector is one of these. Particularly in the region where there is a lack of hotels and touristic facilities, it is almost certain that it will be very profitable to build such businesses. Montenegro is expected to develop rapidly with the opportunities it offers, and the need for robust and functional housing is also increasing day by day. Seeing these needs of the country and inviting construction companies from all over the world in Montenegro, the government has offered a large part of the country's land for reconstruction.
