Hidden flavor stops in the city

Tasty dishes and painting-like plates are not only prepared in the most popular streets of the city. There are also delicacies in the hidden corners of the city ...

Istanbul is no longer a city consisting of a single city center. The places we used to encounter in certain places now appear in every part of the city. Each district has created its own homogeneous eating / drinking / entertainment center. So now no space is hidden. Technology has also contributed to this. But the city still does not have hidden secret spaces! Here are some of them…

Kokoreç with Reservation

OZZIE’S 1968

It has become a legend now. The date goes back to 1968. The story started by the owner Oğuzhan Sayı's father Ali Sayı in Çiçek Pasajı and continues in Asmalımescit. Kokoreç in Ozzie’s 1968 is Oguzhan Sayı’s own recipe. He is the one making Kokoreç at the counter. Reservation is a must if you want to go there. Reservation is not for booking a place, Oğuzhan Sayı takes reservation to get and prepare fresh Kokoreç.

It is served with cumin and chili, without vegetables. Also if you are a crowded group to go there, you can order the whole screw of Kokoreç for 380 TL. They make their own sausage in Ozzie’s 1968. Handmade cherry pepper, onion pickle and home-made mustard are also accompanied by these flavors. The venue's open days vary depending on the festivals and events they attend. Therefore, up to date information can be followed from their Instagram addresses.

Can Oba is a three-tabled restaurant in the middle of tradesman restaurants. It has worldwide gastronomy awards. This tiny modest restaurant is in the Michelin Guide. The modest chef, Can Oba’s dishes aren’t as modest as his restaurant. In his restaurant in Sirkeci, he continues to offer people what he has learned from Michelin starred chefs. The prices are very fair for these gourmet delicacies. Can Oba has served almost 25 thousand people since its opening and the best examples of world cuisine have been re-interpreted for Turkish taste. In a few years, for example, in Istanbul, it has become the restaurant having sold the most clam. There are comments on this geography in all plates of Can Oba. The duck and chestnut soup with cherry sauce are the best examples. Can Oba's biggest trump is his desserts. SALON CUMA

Since its opening, Cuma has been on countless international prestigious media from Monocle to The New York Times.
